We analyze each retirement plan as part of the order preparation process. Our orders are customized documents that reflect both the parties' intent and unique retirement plan features. Unlike "QDRO Mills" and online systems, we do not blanketly use model orders. We check for problems and ambiguities before ever using a plan's suggested language.
Jon Mallin, an attorney with ten years of experience, is the sole managing member of QDRO Professionals. Jon has extensive experience in the preparation of division orders. He previously worked for his father's (now retired) firm, Pension Division by QDRO, and has operated QDRO Professionals since August 2008. Jon has prepared hundreds of accepted division orders covering a wide range of retirement plans. He draws on his father's expertise on an as-needed basis but primarily operates QDRO Professionals independently. Jon is a member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan and the New York State Bar Association. Unlike many other order preparers, QDRO Professionals is a law firm. Most of our referrals come through divorce attorneys and we strongly encourage clients to continue representation by their divorce attorneys. However, we can directly service individuals who are not represented by a divorce attorney ("in pro per" and "pro se" parties). Preparers who are not lawyers or not organized as a law firm (e.g., plain LLCs) are prohibited from directly servicing divorcing parties.
